The Alliance for Rural Electrification was created to respond to the outstanding need of providing a sustainable access to electricity to the developing world and to facilitate the involvement of its industry members within a rural electrification global dialogue, involving not only government and donor agencies but also manufacturers, rural entrepreneurs, end consumers, local technicians, NGOs, utility companies, banks, etc.
